Destiny 2 – Two Weeks In

It has officially been two weeks since Destiny 2 launched. I think it is safe to say that this is going to be one of the biggest games of not just 2017, but also 2018. There are already a number of full reviews out there, so I’m not going to rehash them in detail but I do want to make these points about the game:

  • The campaign storyline is absolutely amazing. Utilizing old and new characters and entwining them throughout has really made this game shine. Other publishers should really take note of what Bungie did here (yes, I’m looking at you 343i and EA) and realize that the bar has been set higher for their own efforts
  • The game is fun to play even after the campaign with many options to choose from. Whether you drop into the Crucible for PvP or go on Quests and Adventures to expand your inventory and expound on the game, there is enough there to keep you coming back time and time again. As I mentioned, I’m two weeks in with 67 hours logged and really haven’t even scratched the surface of the “end game” content except on the EDZ. I read somewhere that the campaign was about 20 hours of gameplay (it took me about 25 because I was intent on leveling up) but there’s at least another 20 hours with all the end game content
  • One of the great things about the game is the ability to try playing with different classes. While I mained a Titan, I’m going to play up a Warlock and a Hunter as well so I can try out those abilities that are unique to them… which effectively triples the gameplay time

My Top Three Favorite Weapons:

  • Coldheart – yes, this came as a pre-order item available from Banshee-44 (gunsmith at the end game social space) but it’s also available in drops. This weapon is really pretty amazing… kind of reminds me of Zarya from Overwatch but with a much greater range
  • Origin Story – I got this legendary auto rifle and it has become my kinetic weapon of choice
  • Skyburner’s Oath – This exotic scout rifle is AMAZING against the Cabal (your main enemies) and can be used full auto even at a distance with accuracy that is just plain scary
